POSITION SUMMARY
Blachly School District is accepting applications for Licensed Substitute Teachers for the purpose of establishing an ongoing pool of candidates. We are looking for committed, compassionate and positive educators who are ready to make a difference for Blachly students.
Applications are reviewed in the order in which they are received and according to the current needs and requirements of the District. After application review, candidates may receive an email requesting more information, as needed. Therefore, the application process requires that all applicants have an active email address. Qualified candidates will be contacted by BSD Human Resources Department.
Blachly School District may consider applicants if the candidate holds an active Oregon Substitute Teaching License issued by TSPC. Candidates in the Substitute Teacher Pool are not guaranteed employment.

- A Valid Oregon teaching license:

- Continuing Teaching
- Initial I Teaching
- Initial II Teaching
- Legacy Teaching
- Preliminary Teaching
- Professional Teaching
- Reciprocal Teaching
- Standard Teaching
- Substitute Teaching
- Restricted Substitute Teaching
- Emergency Substitute Teaching (Sponsored by BSD)
- Must have passed criminal background check.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Licensed Substitute Teachers are used by Blachly School District on an as-needed basis to cover the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher. The primary role of a Licensed Substitute Teacher is to continue student learning along the continuum as established by the absent regular teacher. The responsibilities of the Licensed Substitute Teacher in the classroom may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Lesson planning;
- Teaching students;
- Managing the classroom;
- Performing administrative tasks;
- Promoting positive student behavior;
- Ensuring the safety and security of the students.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience differentiating practices for diverse populations;
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, parents, school district staff and community populations;
- Effective communication skills;
- Ability to be flexible and work a varied schedule;
- Ability and commitment to practice cultural competency and demonstrate a respect for diversity, equity and inclusion.
WORKPLACE EXPECTATIONS
- The employee is dressed and groomed in a neat, clean and appropriate professional manner for the assignment and work setting.
- The employee maintains the integrity of confidential information relating to a student, family, colleague or district patron. The employee uses or relays personal information only in the course of performing assigned responsibilities and in the best interest of the individuals involved.
- The employee follows all district or supervisor policies, rules, regulations, memos, bulleting, announcements, applicable position descriptions, and reasonable requests by proper authority.
- The employee demonstrates appropriate judgment and professional behavior at all times.
- All licensed employees will meet the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC) Standards for Competent and Ethical Educators and District Standards for Performance.
